This Saturday, July 24, from 11 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Families First headquarters on the Westside at 80 Joseph E. Lowery Blvd., Families First, Starbucks, Target, and Kroger are partnering to help families be prepared to return to the classroom through the Back-to-School Bash. This community celebration is focused on building community resilience, promoting family health and education resources, and food accessibility for all families in the Atlanta community.
The Back-to-School Bash offers families free access to many of the important items needed for our children to return to school safely including FREE groceries from Kroger and back-to-school supplies. Event attendees will also have access to the Families First’s resiliency screening tool to assess their readiness to face life's challenges and to get back out there.
Families can take part in a Lego challenge from the Museum of Design Atlanta; an Atlanta Youth Rugby clinic; story time activities and a kid-friendly, healthy snack from The Junior League of Atlanta’s Journey to Literacy and Kids in the Kitchen programs, as well as explore robotics with the Neo Engineering League of America (NELA). In partnership with Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE), Families First is providing free COVID-19 vaccines for event attendees.
The Back-to-School Bash also brings together some of Families First’s community partners including Raising Expectations, Moving in the Spirit, Metro YMCA, Partners in Change, Career RISE and TechBridge. The Atlanta Police Athletic League which serves more than 2,800 children annually through programs such as youth summer camp, youth athletic leagues, and afterschool programs with tutorials will also participate in the Back-to-School Bash.
The event is free to attend and a fun and special way for families needing assistance to kick off the school year.
