Horizon Theatre Company is back live and outdoors - for families! Join us for the musical HOW I BECAME A PIRATE in Horizon’s backyard. Based on the hit children's book, this sea-faring romp starts Saturday, July 10 at 11:00 a.m., running for seven performances through Sunday, August 8. Bring your own chairs and blankets for seating in our open-air space behind Horizon Theatre in Little Five Point/Inman Park (1083 Austin Avenue NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30307). Horizon is partnering with Destination Theatre to bring audiences this delightful musical, performed by high spirted young professionals. Come on board with this swashbuckling band of goofy pirates and young Jessica Jacob on their hunt for the perfect place to bury treasure. On the way, she learns being back home with the ones she loves is the greatest treasure of all. How I Became a Pirate is based on the book by Melinda Long, with Book, Music and Lyrics by Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman. HOW I BECAME A PIRATE will run at Horizon Theatre Company July 10 through August 8, 2021 for seven performances with a running time of 1 hour. The box office opens 45 minutes before the show. Seating/picnic opens 30 minutes prior to start of show and grounds will remain open 30 minutes after the show.


Saturday, July 10 - 11am and 1:30pm

Saturday, July 17 - 11am and 1:30pm

Sunday, August 1 - 5:30pm

Sunday, August 8 - 2:30pm and 5:30pm

Tickets are $10 per person of any age.

Seating: Bring your own low chairs and blankets. Regular seating height chairs will be located in the rear of the audience so as to not obstruct others’ view.

Parking: There is limited parking onsite. Once lot is full, cars can drop off passengers, chairs and other items and then will be directed to park on the street or in paid lots nearby.

Food and Drink: Bottled water will be available for purchase. Outside food and drink is welcome.

Covid Safety: The performance is outdoors. All staff and actors are vaccinated. All staff and volunteers will be masked. Touch surfaces in restrooms and box office area will be cleaned before and after each show.

Rain policy: Refunds only if Horizon cancels the show because of rain. Exchanges will be allowed up to 48 hours before the show with no charge. Exchanges up to 24 hours before the show with a $5 per ticket exchange fee. NO DAY OF SHOW EXCHANGES.

SPECIAL WEEKDAY SHOWINGS FOR CAMPS AND GROUPS: Horizon will add weekday shows for pre-paid groups of 25 or more. Dates can be requested between July 11-23 and July 27-August 6.
