Students in Fulton County Schools (FCS) continue to score above the state and nation averages on the ACT, by 2.5 points and 3.2 points respectively and increased the overall district’s composite score to 23.9. FCS students improved slightly with both the overall scores and the College Readiness Benchmark scores, which are indicators of how well students are expected to perform in credit-bearing college courses. Participation rates did decrease from 54.4 percent of graduates in 2018 to 51.4 percent in 2019.
“The 2019 ACT scores demonstrate Fulton County Schools are preparing our students for college and career paths. We are very proud of the students and their personal efforts. We are also proud of the effort by our teachers and staff to help build the educational foundations for these results,” said FCS Superintendent Dr. Mike Looney. “There is always room for growth, and we will continue to strive for improvement.”
Seven schools showed an increase in the average composite score for 2019, with Chattahoochee High School increasing for the fifth consecutive year. Northview High School had the highest composite score for the district with 27.6.
