I Had My Trash Bin Cleaned...Let Me Tell You Why!

ATL Fresh Cans provides affordable, eco-friendly, curbside service

Have you ever considered having your trash bin cleaned? You probably answered NO. Before I was introduced to ATL Fresh Cans a couple of months ago, my answer would have been NO also.

ATL Fresh Cans is a trash and recycling bin sanitizing service headquartered right here in South Fulton County, and its owner, Dwight Jones is a native of College Park. I was very intrigued in my first discussion with Jones and couldn't wait to get him out to demonstrate the service he provides. Well, seeing was believing. Disregarding the terrible condition of my bin, he cleaned my bin spotless and despite the cracks, it looked practically brand new . . . on the inside. Not to mention, it smelled like a fresh load of laundry at least two days later. NO KIDDING!

After speaking to Dwight, I realized that like many parents, I often assign my young son to take out the trash. He's squeamish when it comes to germs and things on his fingers so he washes his hands a lot, but one can't be sure all of the time. Most kids are easily distracted and could potentially take the germs from the trash can to the refrigerator or another place in the home that would make themselves and other family members susceptible to harmful germs and bacteria. That right there is honestly the part that sold me.

Your trash bin is the unhealthiest place in your home.

Many of you may not even consider the trash and recycle bins a part of your home, but they are. We visit them at least once a week, and if they weren't there, what would we do with the trash build up inside of our homes? Right! And the truth is because we don't consider them as part of our homes, we probably never consider cleaning them because just the thought of it is disgusting. We don't want to touch the outside because it's filthy so just imagine the build-up of grime and bacteria on the inside. After being left out for a couple of days harmful bacteria can begin to grow. Animals and insects may get into your bins and further the spread of disease and bacteria. Your trash and the bacteria that might be forming are the perfect combos to produce foul odors that attract even more pests. Sometimes even after the trash has been collected, the smell still lingers. Those pungent smells can attract rats and flies, not to mention maggots, all of which can contain dangerous diseases transferable to humans.

Sanitizing your bins kills 99.9% of the germs and bacteria that are present.

What types of germs and bacteria can be detected in a dirty trash bin?

  • Salmonella
  • E. Coli
  • Listeria
  • Mold from food
  • The list goes on!

How can you protect your family from trash bin bacteria?

A routine, professional sanitizing service is your best option. Studies show that sanitizing frequently reduces the risk of exposure to harmful germs and bacteria. ATL Fresh Cans uses all-natural products to sanitize and deodorize trash and recycle bins. Additionally, the process used is eco-friendly, significantly reducing the amount of water wasted.

Unless trained, sanitizing your trash bin yourself may put at further risk. Most do-it-yourself jobs will waste water and contaminate the surrounding environment with harsh chemicals. This may lead to damaged yards, rivers, streams and even worse, the local water supply.  I suggest we let the professionals help us out, and my first choice is none other than ATL Fresh Cans. Again, they use all-natural cleaning solutions, capture the wasted water, protecting your yard, the local water supply, pets, and family members.

How often should you have your bin cleaned?

Quarterly (once every 3 months) if you have pets and or young children.

Bi-annually (twice a year) for two to three reasonably responsible adults.

Annually (once a year) if you are extremely disciplined in following these 4 basic rules:

1. DO make sure all trash is bagged and sealed tight.

2. AVOID putting liquids in your trash.

3. AVOID overloading your trash bags.

4. DO consider composting.

How does your sanitizing service work?

ATL Fresh Cans will coordinate with you to clean your trash bin after it has been emptied. Just leave it out and we will come by and clean it right there at the curb. You will receive electronic reminders to ensure that you don’t miss your sanitizing.
