Get Into The Game

Things to do in and around Atlanta surrounding the Big Game

By Kristen Wright-Matthews, Editor and Publisher, Macaroni Kid College Park-East Point-Morrow January 28, 2019

When I think about the anticipated 200,000 passengers arriving per day between February 1 and 4 at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport—a 33 percent boost in passenger volume - my whole body cringes. I hate traffic so good thing there's the Marta. There is so much going on around town this weekend so I compiled this QUICK GUIDE so you'll have everything you need to know about Super Bowl LIII all in one place, hopefully, a place you're familiar with and you love.

Super Bowl LIII will take place on February 3, 2019, at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 PM. The national anthem will be sung by Atlanta's own Gladys Knight and Maroon 5 will perform the Halftime Show.  This event will mark Atlanta’s third Super Bowl and the first in 19 years; Super Bowl XXVIII in 1994 and Super Bowl XXXIV in 2000 at the Georgia Dome.

A lot has gone into planning this milestone event for Atlanta. Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said, "It's more than about the game, it's about a lasting legacy." Brett Daniels, the Host Committee’s chief operating officer said, “We are prepared to put on the greatest Super Bowl ever.”  There you go! It's going to be great despite my inhibitions about hitting the traffic.

Have you seen this awesome video created by the amazing kids at Ron Clark Academy? If you're not already, this is sure to get you pumped!
