Cinderella-Della Review

Center for Puppetry Arts

By Tawanda Q June 28, 2017

To kick off the 2017-2018 Family Series, Cinderella Della Circus will whisk away families with a whimsical retelling of the classic tale of Cinderella from June 20 – July 23. In this festive affair, Cinderella is a poetic tightrope walker in P.T. Barnum’s circus, who speaks only in rhyme. When cruel Madame Bullie takes over ringmaster duties, Cinderella is forced to cook and clean instead of performing at the Handsome Prince’s Ball. Cinderella Della Circus is about celebrating differences and using individual talents to work together. Complete with trick marionettes, circus animals, space travel, Jules Verne and a moon monster, this performance is a treat for both boys and girls

If you like Cinderella, then I truly suggest take you check out Cinderella Della Circus. It definitely is nothing like the classic story Cinderella we have all grown to know and love. However, Cinderella Della Circus is sure to please; even the oldest at heart.

This unpredictable story takes place under the Big Top (that’s right, a circus). With a host of fairy-tale characters you are sure to love; such as Strech-O, P.T. Barnum, Oliver (the Elephant), Cornelia(the Zebracorn), Madam Bullie and much more. Just as in the original Cindrella, where Cinderella is forbidden to go to the Prince’s Ball; Cinderella also faces the same challenge, but with a twist. Will she go to the ball? Well…..Let’s just say, you have to see this production for yourself.

My daughter, along with her best friend/sister and auntie went to check out this production. There were people of all ages and walks of life there with their kids; who enjoyed the performance as well! It definitely is an adorable, theatrical performance! So if you’re looking for something exciting to do, then head on over to The Center for Puppetry Arts and check out the show and afterward make a puppet of Stretch-O.
