Children’s Museum of Atlanta Launches Amazing New Permanent Exhibit

Step Up to Science is an all-new science-focused exhibit to empower children through play

This summer, Children’s Museum of Atlanta launched a brand-new, fully revamped version of its permanent, science-centric exhibit, Step Up to Science. Made possible by a $200,000 grant from Cognizant U.S. Foundation, the refreshed exhibit engages children in the scientific concept of “Cause and Effect,” featuring multiple rotating modular elements.

Immersing kids in various elements of “Cause and Effect,” the reimagined Step Up to Science features hands-on permanent exhibits that allow children to discover the innovative world of STEM through captivating science experiments.

Macaroni Kid CEM visited during Media Week, and we took our friends and one of our favorite MacKid families along for our two-hour session. To put it lightly, the boys had the time of their lives. Their little hands were all over the place and their minds raced to see what problems they could solve next. The first of three new sets of exhibits, Force & Motion is designed to enhance children’s STEM understanding, offering various interactive opportunities for kids to explore the cause-and-effect relationships between force and motion. From the wentzcope to the magnetic racetrack, giant gear wall and augmented reality wall, the exhibit provides nonstop fun and learning for young kids, recommended for ages 2 to 8. My son's favorite was the wind tube!

Here are some photos from their experience:

This exhibit is permanent so it' not going anywhere, but make to get over to enjoy the Thomas Edison's Secret Lab exhibit by September 7, 2021 before it's gone. You can check out our review here. Both are a must see!
