GAgives and Mercedes-Benz: An inspiring new #GivingTuesday partnership

November 29, 2019

The year’s biggest day for generosity in Georgia, GAgives on #GivingTuesday, is coming up on December 3 – and new partner Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) is making an immediate impact, providing an array of prize funds to help nonprofits create excitement and drive donations.

Each year, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) organizes GAgives on #GivingTuesday, a 24-hour giving bonanza, to drive awareness and donations for the Georgia-based nonprofits working tirelessly for positive, lasting change. Since its founding in 2012, the GAgives movement has rallied 160,000 supporters and raised more than $28 million for thousands of Georgia’s nonprofits.

This year, MBUSA has joined the movement as part of their commitment to serving Greater Atlanta – and they’ve made a big entrance, sponsoring three contests to advance their longstanding focus on the education and empowerment of the next generation. Nonprofits involved in educating Metro Atlanta’s young people, and collecting donations through GAgives.org, have been invited to compete in each of these prize challenges:

  • The #GreatnessLivesHere Pre-Campaign Prize, taking place this week (Nov. 25 - 29), which asks nonprofits to post images or videos on Facebook that highlight their work “helping greatness live within students,” for the chance to win one of four $500 prizes;
  • The #GreatnessLivesHere Leaderboard, which will distribute a total of $6,500 among the four organizations that net the greatest number of donors on #GivingTuesday; and
  • #GreatnessLivesHere Power Hours, which will award a $2,000 prize to the organizations that net the greatest number of donors during each of six 60-minute contests, scheduled throughout #GivingTuesday.

In total, MBUSA's prize contributions will add $20,500 to the funds raised for Georgia nonprofits on GAgives on #GivingTuesday. Through their partnership with GAgives, MBUSA is also able to highlight the integral role of local nonprofits, using their stories of dedication, passion, and triumph in public-facing online messages, internal communications with their Georgia-based staff, and among their own partners as part of their own #GreatnessLivesHere campaign.

“By supporting GAgives on #GivingTuesday, MBUSA helps raise much-needed funds for some of our state’s unsung nonprofit heroes,” said Donna Boland, MBUSA Manager of Corporate Communications. “GAgives also helps MBUSA advance their work connecting the corporate and nonprofit sectors, generating more shared resources, and better leveraging opportunities to fill in missing pieces and create greater impact. We’re proud to sponsor #GreatnessLivesHere Leaderboard and Power Hour contests, each providing nonprofits the chance to energize their supporters and win extra donations.”
