When I decided to launch my Mom Boss Marketlace, I wanted to select someone who would both inspire and educate my readers. For this reason, I chose someone who I know (and love) very well (much). Ne'Taki Wolfe is my cousin, but she is also one of the kindest and most passionate people I know. She is a wife, a mother, and recently she became a realtor with Keller Williams Realty Atlanta Partners. She inspires me and pretty much proves that at any point in your life, you can follow your dreams. This lady has wings! I hope that her story empowers those who are seeking to get back into the workplace, start a new business, or embark on any new endeavor to realize that you can do it if you believe you can. Ne'Taki was a stay-at-home mom for many years before she delve into this new career, but now that her nest is almost empty, she decided that her life was not over. Being a mom is one of the most important things that we do, but it isn't the only thing. As our children grow, they need to witness our growth. Their needs change and so do ours. Ne'Taki had a passion for real estate and she gave it a try. You know how the saying goes, "She believed she could, so she did!"

MK: Where are you from?

I was born and raised in New Orleans, LA.

MK: How old are your kids?

My beautiful kids are my son Jay, 22, a junior at Kennesaw State University and my daughter Cydney, 17, a senior at Peachtree Ridge High in Suwanee.

MK: How long have you been married?

I have been married to my college sweetheart for 22 years.

MK: Why did you decide to start a real estate business?

I was a stay-home mom for 13 years and it was the best gift I could have ever given my family.  They have had every ounce of my love, time, energy, efforts talents and attention. As my kids were getting older, they were needing me less and less, I kept wondering what there is out there in the world for me. I chose real estate because it is flexible and allows me to still be available for them as needed. I could be my own boss, meet people of all different backgrounds, learn a new skill and the best part is there’s no ceiling in real estate. You can work how much or how little you choose and make how much or how little you want. I am also very passionate about helping people realize their dream of purchasing a home. Buying a home is a major purchase and I enjoy helping them navigate through the unknown.

MK: Is this your first entrepreneurial endeavor?

No, some years back I owned a home-based stationery business. I really enjoyed it but when we moved from LA to MS and then to GA, I decided to close up shop and move on.

MK: What is the scariest part about starting this business?

The unknown. When I started, I didn’t know very many people here. Much of real estate is determined by the relationships you have and without many of those, you’re starting from the very bottom. You have to be willing to step outside of your comfort zone to start meeting people in ways you wouldn’t have before. You have to be the initiator of conversations, walk up to introduce yourself to people, etc. It was very uncomfortable in the beginning but now it’s like second nature. I’m happy this profession has pushed me to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

MK: How does your family feel about you starting a business?

They are so happy for me and very supportive. They are the best cheerleaders.

MK: Do you have any tips for women starting their own business?

I would tell any woman wanting to start her own business to step out on faith. Believe in yourself and what you have to offer. Figure out what you’re most passionate about because loving what you do does not feel like work. Most importantly, don’t be afraid to fail because I believe in failing forward. Learn from your mistakes and becoming better as a result of them.

MK: Any tips for balancing the work/family life?

Starting this business was definitely an adjustment for the family. Everyone had to step up to do more because I wasn’t there to take care of everything like they were accustomed to. Having a supportive family definitely makes the transition easier and communication is key.

MK: What are you most proud of in this effort?

As an agent at Keller Williams Atlanta Partners, they are always asking about the “Big Why”. Your big reason for doing what you do. I do what I do because of my family. They are the people I want to impress. I want to make them proud of me. For so long my kids have watched their father be successful, achieve great things and take care of his family financially, emotionally and be amazing all while doing so. I am working so hard to show them that mom can do that too. Mom can help people, sell homes, make lots of money, win awards, all while being the best mom possible.

MK: In which area of Atlanta do you specialize?

I live in Gwinnett County, but I service all of Metro Atlanta.

MK: For families seeking to relocate from South Atlanta, what area would you recommend?

I love Atlanta altogether, and there are many great places to live across the board. But when my family relocated here, school district and diversity were super important to us.

Our Top 5 reasons for moving to Gwinnett County were:

1) Gwinnett has an award-winning school system.

2) Gwinnett has incredible cultural diversity that rivals that of major U.S. cities.

3) Gwinnett has a robust economy with tons of job opportunities.

4) Gwinnett is a great place to enjoy the outdoors with 47 parks and 12 recreational centers on almost 10,000 acres of land.

5) Gwinnett has fantastic local sports like the Gwinnett Braves baseball team that plays at Coolray Field in Lawrenceville and the Georgia Swarm lacrosse team whose home is at the Infinite Energy Arena in Duluth.

Wherever you seek to move, you should consider all factors of importance for your family. Whether it's school district, work location, diversity, etc., you should research the area and figure out what works best for you.

Soon my daughter will be graduating high school and we are strongly considering moving somewhere else. I'm am super excited that I will no longer have to worry about school districts . . . OR cooking. Yay! 🤣🤣🤣
