Hindsight is 2020

A New Years Eve Note from Your Publisher

By Kristen Wright-Matthews, Editor and Publisher, Macaroni Kid College Park-East Point-Morrow December 31, 2018

2020 has been a different type of year. We were faced with a challenge but we endured. We adapted to the changes needed, we survived and continue to thrive. For many of us, it was hard. Some of us found opportunity in the fog. Distance learning posed somewhat of a challenge for families. Social injustices came to a head. We elected a new president and the first woman Vice President was voted into office. Macaroni Kid was acquired by Certifikid

In my home: My oldest son passed the 7th grade.  My little one started Pre-K, virtually. I have been able to write more (published 8 articles this year, here are a few ) and took on a purposeful side hustle. My husband's training business boomed. My son was named a Baskin Robbins Pint-Sized Hero. Our family successfully planned and executed our annual event, The Giving Bowl, and as a result my son was featured on CBS Evening News, Good Morning America (and he was shown on the Jumbotron in New York Times Square), and tonight will be featured as the inspiring kid of the year on NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt: Kids Edition. We incorporated our family business.

So much has happened this year. Whether it was a good year or a bad year, we pulled through it...together! We lost so many, but let's celebrate their memories and make the most of those who are still here. 2020 proved that anything can happen so let's not waste another moment to look forward to what's to come in 2021.

I hope this new year provides everyone with an opportunity to grow and prosper. We must all remain diligent in fighting to overcome this pandemic and other challenges that might confront us. In all that you do, be kind. You never know when you might need grace.

Have a safe and HAPPY NEW YEAR - See you in 2021!

From my family to yours.....
