Groove on the Green: College Park’s Joyful Saturday Tradition Returns for Summer Fun
On Saturday mornings in College Park, something magical happens on the lawn of St. John’s Episcopal Church. Families spread out picnic blankets, little ones wiggle with excitement, and the sound of laughter mixes with music drifting through the trees. It is definitely a vibe. It is Groove on the Green, the beloved FREE outdoor concert series designed especially for young children, and it’s quickly becoming one of the community’s favorite summer rituals.
What makes Groove on the Green so special? It’s more than a concert. It’s a weekly celebration of creativity, connection, and childhood wonder.
🎶 A Morning Built for Kids
Each Saturday features a lively lineup of children’s musicians, storytellers, and puppeteers who know exactly how to captivate young audiences. Designed for ages infant through 12, the series blends entertainment with hands‑on learning.
Thanks to Fulton County 4‑H, every event includes an educational activity which sparks curiosity, whether kids are exploring nature, learning about animals, or discovering new ways to express their feelings.
And because no morning adventure is complete without snacks, families can enjoy juice and treats from Eden Fresh, coffee from Drip Thru, and smoothies from Arden’s Garden while supplies last.
🌈 Weekly Themes That Spark Imagination
Each concert brings a new theme to life, giving families a reason to return again and again:
- May 2 – Storybook Fun!
- May 9 – All Things Beautiful
- May 16 – Friendship and Feelings
- May 30 – Animals
- June 6 – Heroines and Heroes
- June 13 – Harmony in Cultures
Families are encouraged to stay for the Pride Parade at 11:30.
From celebrating kindness to exploring the animal kingdom, every Saturday offers a fresh opportunity for kids to learn, play, and grow.
🎤 Why a Concert Series?
St. John’s Episcopal Church is home to the beloved CP Kids Choir, and while the choir takes a summer break, the spirit of music does not pause. Groove on the Green keeps the rhythm going, ensuring families have access to joyful, high‑quality children’s programming without the paywalls that often limit participation. It is community at its best: open, welcoming, and rooted in the belief that childhood magic should be accessible to everyone.
💚 A Place Where Everyone Belongs
Whether your child loves to dance, sing, craft, or simply soak up the sunshine, Groove on the Green offers a safe, inclusive space to do it all. Families of every background are invited to gather, connect, and enjoy the simple pleasure of being together outdoors.
ALL ARE WELCOME to sing, dance, and groove on the green. Bring your blankets, your friends, your tiny dancers, and let the good vibes roll.
