This Week in Macaroni Kid CEM
Covering Families and Communities in South Fulton and Clayton County!
Happy Mother's Day to all of our moms out there! This will be my third year celebrating the holiday as a mom.
Mother's Day got me thinking about what it means to be a mother (in a humorous sort of way). So here's my list of:
"You Know You're a Mom When..."
1. You have a chance to relax in your own bubble bath and you secretly wish you could bring a few of your child's play toys in there too (it always looks like so much fun!).
2. You excuse yourself from the holiday dinner table because you "have to go use the potty!"
3. You catch yourself humming or singing the theme song from a Disney or Nickelodeon show or even from the children's CD in the car or even at work.
4. You find it easier to just make breakfast for dinner, especially since it seems kids love pancakes and waffles anyway.
5. Coffee is no longer your guilty morning pleasure with the paper or a book, but rather to just keep you awake and alert for the rest of the day.
6. You'd give your right arm if the kids would just sleep for a two hour nap-time!
But seriously being a mom is nothing short of a blessing! As bad as some days can be when the kids can be moody or sick, being a parent is also the most rewarding and joyful experience.
I want to wish my own mother a very wonderful Mother's Day and thank my wonderful and supportive husband for allowing me to still juggle so many balls in life all while being a mom too!
Now, here's what you can expect in your newsletter this week...

WIN: Sage Spoonfuls!
Homemade Food Helps to Lay a Strong Foundation for a Lifetime of Healthy Food Choices

Parents certainly want the best for their children and one of the ways we show this is by what we feed them.
That's why the Sage Spoonfuls created a system that helps parents provide delicious and nutritious homemade food for their babies.
The creaters of Sage Spoonfuls say that you don't need to be a chef, have a lot of time on your hands, or a kitchen full of fancy equipment to make and store your own baby food—in fact they say that you ...

We know that children learn by example, yet sometimes setting a good example can be difficult for parents. But if you start early enough and follow as many of the 10 tips given below as you can, you will teach your child to ...
Ten Steps to a Courteous Kid
No Yelling, No Spanking, No Time-Outs
It is possible to raise kind, well-mannered children with no yelling, no spanking, and no time-outs. When I created the Privileges System three years ago, my daughter needed boundaries…fast.
I always said, “I won’t have a brat,” but I had to admit that if I didn’t act soon, I would indeed have one. Now I get compliments on her behavior, and though she’s not perfect (who would want the perfect child?), she is polite and respectful. The best part is that she even recognizes other children ...

Macaroni Menu: Chicken Pesto Pasta Salad
Summer and pasta salad go hand in hand in this house. I LOVE having the ease of having a chilled pasta salad waiting for us in the fridge when we get home from the pool or zoo or whatever we have done that day. Add the benefit that there is no cleaning dishes and I can’t think of a better quick meal!
We eat so much pasta salad, however, that I have had to come up with variations so that we don’t get bored with our typical “family ...
