Can you believe the summer is coming to an end? Yes, we'll be officially making the transition into Fall on Sept. 23. Wow!

It does seem like just yesterday we were taking dips in the pool, putting away our winter sweaters and firing up the grill for the first time in the season. But now, the kids are back in school, the days are already getting shorter and there's even a little morning chill in the air as we head out the door.

The Alliance Theatre for the Very Young will stage A Child’s Garden of Verses, based on the beloved poetry of Robert Louis Stevenson. Saturday, September 24 through Sunday, September 25 - Georgia Aquarium's Pirate Days

Walk the plank into Atlanta’s own ocean and journey alongside aquatic experts for Pirate Days, a weekend of pirate-themed festivities and events helping swashbucklers to better navigate and understand the seven seas, along with the creatures that inhabit them. Lots of activities, giveaways and games for the entire family. Young pirates will also receive free activity books, temporary tattoos and can take photos at the pirate ship photo station to commemorate the weekend.

Crazy Caterpillars!


What you’ll need….

  • Multi-colored paper
  • A circle to trace (Tupperware bowl, plastic cup, cardboard circle, etc.)
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Crayons/markers
  • 2 Googly eyes
  • 2 Feathers or pipe cleaners
  • BIG sheet of paper 

What you’ll do…

  • Help your child trace multiple circles out of different colors of paper.  Cut them out.  For younger kids, you can cut the circles out for them ahead of time.
  • Arrange the circles to make a long caterpillar.  You can make them “crazy” by having them go up and down all over the ...

Fruity Peanut Butter Dip


This great dip for fresh fruit, celery and baby carrots can also be used as a tasty spread!

  • 1 medium apple, cored and quartered but not peeled
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • 1 cup all natural peanut butter
  • 1/3  cup orange juice
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 6 cups of fresh fruit and vegetables such as apple slices, celery sticks and baby carrots


1. In a food processor, chop one apple and cranberries.

2. In a small bowl, combine peanut butter, orange juice and cinnamon.
